You can apply for a tax refund after the end of the relevant tax year. You can apply for the previous 5 tax years.
?When is the tax year?
The tax year in Holland runs from January 1st until December 31st.
?How much money will I get back?
On average our customers get an average tax refund of €910, but ultimately the amount you get back will depend on your individual circumstances such as your living arrangements, marital status and whether or not you’re entitled to any tax deductions.

Sometimes due to delays in post office or tax office your refund can take longer to get to you. If your refund is delayed for whatever reason, we will ring up the relevant office to get them to speed up your refund.

Your tax return is a document detailing how much you’ve earned during the year and how much tax you’ve paid in addition to your tax obligations and any tax deductions you’re entitled to.
Your tax refund is the amount of money you get back for the overpayment of a particular tax.

For Dutch tax returns we charge 16.5% + handling fee of the refund received subject to a minimum fee of €50 + handling fee.

?What documents will I need to file my tax return?
You will need:
- Your Jaaropgaaf or Statement of Earnings
- Your completed tax pack
- A copy of your ID/Passport
- As of 2015 if you live in an EU country, Liechtenstein, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius or Saba, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and you pay tax in the Netherlands on at least 90% of your worldwide income, you will also need to submit personal income statement from the tax authorities in your country of residence
?What is a Jaaropgaaf?
The Jaaropgaaf is the official government form you get from your employer at the end of the tax year which outlines your earnings and the amount of taxes you paid that year. You should receive it by the end of February in the year following the tax year you worked in. If you don't have one it's no problem – we can contact your employer to organise a statement of earnings.
?What if I’ve lost my documents or I never got them in the first place?
Don’t worry – if you don’t have your documents just emailing your account manager to let them know and for a small additional fee we can find them or organise replacements for you.
?Can I claim my Holland refund myself?
You could, but often the process is much more complicated than people realise. preparing and filing your tax refund yourself will involved gathering all the documentation yourself, making sure it complies to tax codes and sending them in to the tax office, who won’t update you on your case until they tell you whether or not you’re due a refund. - You live in an EU country, Liechtenstein, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius or Saba, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland.
- You pay tax in the Netherlands on at least 90% of your worldwide income.
- You should be able to submit personal income statement from the tax authorities in your country of residence.
If your answer is no to any of the above, you will most probably be not due a refund as of 2015, however, we can still assist you in all other tax countries.
